BAJA SAE INDIA

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is a premier professional society worldwide, which serves the Mobility Engineering Community engaged in design, manufacture and service of self propelled vehicles and systems that move in land, sea, air and space. Its vision is to continuously enrich knowledge base of practitioners in mobility industry and institutions in the service of humanity. Around 1,00,000 SAE member engineers and scientists develop and distribute technical information on all forms of self-propelled vehicles including automobiles, trucks and buses off-highway equipment, aircraft, aerospace vehicles, marine, rails and transit systems.

SAEINDIA, has started operating in India from 2002 as an affiliate of SAE International,

Presently there are five sections: West, South, North, East & Bangalore section, with about 2000 regular members and 8000 student members.

NATRIP is a National Automotive Testing and R&D Infra-structure Project approved by Govt. of India on 25th July 2005 with an Investment of Rs.1718 crores (about USD 380 million). This include up gradations of testing facilities at ARAI-Pune, VRDE-Ahemadnagar and ARAI- Manesar in Haryana. Besides these, totally new Centers would be built at Rai Bereily in U.P., Oragadam in Chennai, Silchar in Assam and Peethampur in M.P. 4123 acres of land at NATRAX (National Automotive Test Track) at Peethampur will have a world-class automotive proving grounds for entire range of field tests. BAJA SAEINDIA Event is held at NATRAX.

One of the NATRIP Testing Centre is NATRAX (National Automotive Test Track) also known as Proving Grounds - Indore, which is the host site of Baja SAEINDIA.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune, set up in 1966 for industrial research, was formed by the Indian Automotive Industry and is affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industries and public Enterprises, Government of India.
